Red Dress, Size 12.5 meters silk
When I moved to London, last year, I started to document my daily commute to and from college. The photograph of the lanterns in China Town was taken on one of these trips home.
I developed it through learning a variety of machine skills, including shirring.  To extend this idea this term, I worked with a larger, 4-meter length, of fabric – which was a little problematic to work with on a sewing machine and maintain as a whole piece.  I really enjoyed the shirring, but preferred to free style it to create a circular pattern, rather than work in a rigid grid. Realised in the shiny red silk fabric it creates an otherworldly feel.
